The Carrier Representative is responsible for providing capacity solutions to support our customer’s truckload shipping needs. This position handles a wide range of duties including, capacity sourcing, rate negotiation and problem resolution. Responsibilities:
- Develop strong carrier relationships to ensure high levels of service and communication
- Fostering close relationships and developing opportunities with all new and current carriers to achieve growth
- Proactively engage with priority accounts to evaluate Carrier Sales needs, gaps, and identify future actions to achieve overall account goals, understand aligned accounts and drive improved business results and reduce costs
- Source daily capacity utilizing multiple resources (i.e. phone/email, posting boards, etc.) to effectively execute customer shipments
- Manage daily communication with carrier base, including rate negotiations, shipment requirements, and load tendering
- Obtain and enter carrier quotes and capacity into the system
- Develop spot and long-term strategies with carriers by identifying their capacity needs and matching those needs with consistent opportunities
- Monitor progress of shipments on a daily basis to ensure coverage, on-time performance and addressing any mid-transit issues
- Communicate load statuses, issues and concerns to sales representatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or management preferred
- Solid understanding of transportation and logistics principles, and supply chain network behavior
- Strong understanding of brokerage markets and cyclical market dynamics
- Experience with DAT, Internet Truck Stop, and other predictive market resources
- Experience within Microsoft Word, Excel and OneNote are preferred
- B2B sales and/or account management experience. Preferably within the supply chain industry
