As a world class asset-based carrier, Charger Logistics specializes in delivering assets, on time and on budget. With the diverse fleet of equipment, we can handle a range of freight, including dedicated loads, specialized hauls, temperature controlled goods and HAZMAT cargo.
As a Claims Specialist, you will work closely with our safety department in providing claim handling service and support, as well as with drivers to ensure to get them back on the road after an accident. You will act as a liaison between Charger Logistics and our insurer/ insurance company. You will investigate, negotiate, and settle claims based on insurer claims guidelines by estimating equipment and cargo damages, developing relationships with body shops and towing company to get accurate costs, and if required travel to accident scenes to facilitate clean-up and secure equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures all drivers and site personnel maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Conducts safety related training and retraining as necessary and performs continuous auditing and inspections to foster safety success.
- Reviews DOT ratings and BASIC Safety Scores and activity works to implement strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure ratings and scores remain within acceptable levels.
- Reviews Roadside inspections, and DOT recordable accidents within the FMCSA platform and performs risk analysis.
- Leads the accident reporting process and investigates accidents, injuries, claims and perform root cause analysis, and review patterns of frequency with similar incidents and develop strategies for improvement.
- Maintains DOT Accident Register for the fleet and ensure applicable post-accident DOT drug/alcohol testing is completed, as required per FMCSA, within allotted timeframe.
- Monitor and manage all claims to closure and provide reports as required by management and regulatory agencies when needed or required.
- Participate in litigation and other regulatory complaint investigations as requested or required.
- Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g. monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends
- Investigate standard claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures
- Negotiate to ensure efficient and competitive settlement
- Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines
- Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate
- Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)
- Positively represent AGCS externally to the market. Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process (e.g. underwriting, MMC, ARC, operations).
- Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations to include, but not limited to: DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Safety Management or Engineering.
- Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in transportation and logistics within a Safety position.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA and OSHA rules and regulations
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in transportation and warehousing management.
